In this issue, we explore the loving-kindness that children naturally share with their mothers. From the moment we are born, we feel safe and happy when those around us show kindness. Young children are naturally open to love—they say “I love you” freely and remind us how important it is to be kind to ourselves and to others.

I’ve collected my children’s loving words so we can remember how simple and beautiful kindness can be. Each drawing includes a message on the back, showing how the child expresses love. Let’s learn from them. There is also an empty letter for you to write your own words to your mother or a loved one.
