Teleportation
by Lai Long Hin
Lai Lon Hin is best known for his snapshot aesthetic. Using his phone as a camera, he explores a way of seeing through framing and zooming, creating flattened, pixelated images that capture moments of transience and apparent meaninglessness. Yet his work is not simply about capturing a fleeting moment. What distinguishes his practice is his ability to notice what lies within each moment—small, hidden occurrences that might otherwise go unseen. Rather than pursuing the decisive moment, he draws attention to the many quiet, unexpected things that are already happening within it.
“The image world he creates on a daily basis is realised one square at a time. It is a world whose contours defy definition, yet remain subjective and directional.”
